Buymanager at the Estonian Electronics Industries Association event.
Last week, on Thursday, Buymanager attended the Estonian Electronics Industries Association event on High Tech Electronics Manufacturing in Europe, in Tallinn, Estonia.
Here is a sample of what we took away from it:
- There is a long history of electronics in Estonia; EMS is an industry which, in Estonia like in other parts of Europe, from contract manufacturing and assembly only has evolved into a much more complete activity, encompassing product design, testing and logistics.
- Dieter Weiss from in4ma has demonstrated how you cannot know your own industry’s strengths and weaknesses if you are not privy to the real figures pertaining to it globally. The Baltics countries are the fastest growing EMS region in Europe.
- Directors from the Estonian plants of both Enics and Incap have stressed out that offering quality jobs in more remote areas of Estonia and putting family values at the core of their workforce are indeed both possible and a good bet for strengthening their companies’ businesses and ensuring their success.
We also learnt about the EMS sector in Russia, which was an eye opener.
All in all an interesting and enriching day for all those present including ministry officials and a well-organized event that shines a positive light on Europe’s electronics industry.
